Letter II · On what we refuse.

We will not sell you anything that can be packaged. We will not pretend that an object can do the work. We will not treat the membership as a tier in a loyalty program, or the retreat as a calendar optimization, or the charter as a marketing tool.

We will refuse any activity that would require us to break the charter, even if refusing it costs the house money. That is the only way we will remain a house worth joining.

A list of refusals is a strange thing to send as a welcome letter. But it is the honest thing.
